Idea of initiative

The promotion of bio agriculture and bio processing as well as the democratization of bio food are key elements for Carrefour Poland. Therefore, the company engages in all kinds of activities that help to build the potential of bio agriculture and food processing, as well as to strengthen this segment of Polish agriculture.

One of such activities is an active membership in the Coalition for the Development of the Bio Food Market, which was established in November 2018 under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The initiative brought together many experts of bio agricultural production and bio food. Among the Coalition members there are representatives of:

Coalition aim

Coalition aim

The goal of the Coalition is primarily to develop action standards and solutions to problems related to the development of the organic food market, as well as to develop economics, trade, education, society and health projects. In addition, the initiative is responsible for the dissemination of knowledge in this field among producers, processors, traders and consumers. Coalition activities will allow, among others to promote bio products among consumers and to increase the availability of bio products in stores throughout Poland.

During the first meeting of the Coalition, which took place in January 2019, the situation of organic farming in Poland was discussed, as well as the most important challenges for the organic food market in Poland were defined.

Recognition of the main barriers that prevent the development of the organic food market in Poland allowed the Coalition members to set the priority directions of initiative action.
