Carrefour Poland employs several thousands of professionals with different specializations, who are open to people and eager to take up everyday challenges. These people are passionate about trade and products and are willing to take the initiative and like innovative solutions. They also have interesting passions that they are willing to share with others, even at work. The work atmosphere and customer relations are built by a team of personalities which, while working together, are the biggest strength of the company.
We do our best to give all employees the opportunities to develop their skills and to shape their own career path. We provide professional and soft skills trainings, mentoring, offer the possibility to participate in workshops and industry events, and finance courses and studies.
Well-being and job satisfaction of our employees are very important for us, so we do everything to make sure that our benefits package meets the needs of our employees and their families.
For more than 10 years, Carrefour has been employing people with various degrees of disability. We were the first retail chain in Poland which hired hard of hearing people for customer service and cashier positions.
There are currently over 600 employees with disabilities in Carrefour teams. Their presence is of great value for both employees and customers of Carrefour stores. We promote the idea of supported employment and cooperate with EKON and PION organizations to ensure people with disabilities and at risk of social exclusion access to the open job market.
We have also begun our cooperation with the MIGAM Association which helps us to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people.
Carrefour Poland employs 16.000 professionals who specialize in 120 different jobs and who are working in 800 stores of different formats. We believe that professionalism is important on every job position, and that is why we support our employees’ professional development.
In our company, there are experts in food, pastry chefs, specialists in logistics and finance, managers and employees with a university background in human and social sciences. Thanks to our new areas of activity and our innovative projects, we can offer job positions to experts in real estate, franchise, marketing, e-commerce and digital.
Currently, there are four generations of employees working together at Carrefour, so cross-generational communication is one of the main pillars of our HR policy. For us, generation change means understanding the differences and building teams on the basis of common shared values. Working in varied groups, in which people differ from one another, not only in terms of gender and professional experience, but also in terms of age, guarantees constant increase of professional competences. In everyday work, we use various forms of mentoring, shadowing and exchange of good practices, which enable us to transfer knowledge and experience between different employee groups.
We opened in Warsaw a modern vocational training centre called ‘Smak Kariery” for our current and future employees. It is there that young people, who have just begun their career in commerce, can meet experts from Carrefour and learn from their knowledge and experiences. In this place, students of vocational and technical schools, whose educational paths are close to the areas of Carrefour activity, can make their first steps in the professional world. At “Smak Kariery”, we organize various tasting events for employees, workshops and trainings. The centre is also a meeting place for managers and employees who normally work in different locations across Poland.
Diversity is one of the pillars of Carrefour’s strategy in Poland, both in terms of business model and human resources management. Diversity in our team helps us to better understand our customers.
We value our employees’ competences and skills, regardless of the person’s age, sex, place of living or fields of interest. We create job positions both for those who make their first steps in commerce, as well as for those who already have a solid experience. We offer career paths which meet the employee’s competences, fields of interest and geographic mobility.
Many of our employees took part in the ‘Carrefour Talents’ program and benefited from the company’s support for pursuing their hobbies.
Carrefour Poland was the first retail chain in Poland to sign the Diversity Charter in 2013. We committed ourselves to adopt a policy based on equal treatment and diversity management in the workplace as well as to popularize it among our business and social partners. Provisions regarding equality, cross-generational dialogue and professional activation, are especially important to us and are the fundaments of Carrefour Diversity Policy.
When starting their work at Carrefour, all employees commit themselves to comply with the Ethical Charter. Tolerance, social dialogue, respect for the dignity of others, care about the company’s property and honesty, are the rules we follow while performing our everyday duties. They help us to pursue our business objectives, in compliance with the organizational culture of the company, which values mutual respect, a good atmosphere at work as well as good team relationships.
Social dialogue
As a socially responsible company, we attach great importance to open dialogue with our social and business partners. We regularly meet with employee representatives and trade unions. We regularly organize job satisfaction surveys and cooperate with local partners for creating new job positions.
