Carrefour Polska joins the nationwide campaign of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection "Are you investing? Give yourself time. Check, read, ask!” Information about the campaign, which aims to warn Poles against fake investments, will appear in all Carrefour hyper- and supermarkets in Poland, as well as on social media and on the chain's website.

The campaign, which was launched on World Consumer Day, is another educational activity of the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, which aims to increase consumer awareness and the economic security of Poles. There are many advertisements in the media tempting people to invest in currencies, cryptoassets, bills of exchange, shares or bonds. In its campaign, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection points out that they can often be advertised by famous people whose image is used illegally. When choosing this way of investing, you should carefully read the specific investment option to protect yourself against risk and loss of money.

Carrefour Polska responded positively to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection's invitation to the media, institutions, organizations and businesses to jointly publicize this problem. The Office's spots will appear on checkout screens, sales floor screens and a voice campaign in all Carrefour hyper- and supermarkets in Poland. The chain will also inform customers via its social media, website and PR materials.

About the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection campaign

UOKiK's campaign spots focus on investments promoted on the Internet that illegally use the image of people from the world of culture, sports or entertainment, or well-known enterprises and brands. Famous and popular people are supposed to increase the credibility of a given project. Created using artificial intelligence, they are real and convincing. Fraud scenarios change, but their goal is to extort money. The attack may involve obtaining data, e.g. logins and passwords, or acting directly - persuading people to make transfers.

Campaign spots are broadcast free of charge by public media pursuant to Art. 31 c of the Act on Competition and Consumer Protection, as well as by commercial broadcasters and institutions and entities that agreed to support the campaign free of charge.
