Carrefour Polska together with the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) implement the "BIO for Mother and Child" program, which aims to educate mothers, pregnant women and the staff of institutions associated with this group on organic food. The program involves conducting workshops in birthing schools, kindergartens and nurseries in 8 Polish cities. Over 1000 participants will participate in them. The "BIO for Mother and Child" project received a grant from the Carrefour Foundation, which allocated PLN 731,000 for its implementation. Project support is another important element of Carrefour's food transformation strategy. The project has been under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The "BIO for Mother and Child" program will last until April 2021. Workshops in birthing schools, kindergartens and nurseries on organic food and its importance in the daily diet will take place in Warsaw and 7 cities in Eastern Poland. Their participants will be equipped with educational materials. The project will also create a portal - a knowledge base on organic food - and scientific research will be carried out. The parallel goal of the project is to introduce organic products into the daily menu of kindergartens and nurseries included in the program. The institutions participating in the project will receive mini grants for the purchase of organic products to be used when preparing meals for those under their care.

The conference inaugurating the program met with great interest and gathered several dozen of guests from the scientific community, public and non-governmental institutions, ministries – of Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Investment and Development - as well as media representatives.
